World Within His Body
there’s a world within his body
each limb a continent
his sweat like rivulets
there’s an ocean painted on his torso
between his left and right elbow
all seven seas in the space between his knees
but most of all, his face--
it stretches out past Jupiter
I see galaxies in his eyes
his freckles are constellations
three at a time -- there:
Orion’s belt above his left eyebrow
each tear he sheds: a nebula
his skin acts as a black night sky
pouring out over everything I love
meteor shower: every sentence he speaks
his attention is my entire universe;
I’m obsessed with every single star
Athena is the Greek goddess of war and wisdom, although she admits that intelligence and battle have little to do with one another. She writes both fiction and nonfiction, and thoroughly enjoys watching you try to discern between them. She sincerely hopes you enjoy her work, but bids you remember she will employ her sister Artemis to hunt you down should you merely consider plagiarism. She currently resides in Florida.
