Yes, I'm Proud to Be a Failure

I am proud to be a failure.

Yes, you read that right.

I am crazy proud of my failures. I would not be half the person I am today without falling apart and being told that I’m not good enough. The only way to grow is to learn, and the only way to learn is to try, and just because you try doesn’t mean you will succeed.

No one starts off being great at anything, and even after years of making yourself the best you can be there are still going to be people who don’t agree with you. People who don’t see why you picked that color or why you wrote your story like that. They are going to dislike what you do, you will be told no, and you will be rejected.

The word “no” holds more weight to us than any other in the universe, and rightfully so. Rejection has an interesting way of putting things into perspective. It has the power to either vaguely inconvenience you or take everything away from you with a single word.Anyone can celebrate a success, but how you carry a “no” and handle that will be what truly shapes you. Your achievements in life will never have as much effect on you as your failures. There’s nothing more invigorating than failure.

So embrace rejection. Try new things even if you know you will be terrible at them. It’ll cut you down so can rebuild. The universe owes you nothing, no matter how hard you work, so don’t wait for life to hand you a prize. Go seek your own out and take what you think you deserve.

You are going to fall. Get up and keep going. Learn from your falls because they will teach you how to stay standing.

It’s not going to be easy of course. Anyone who tells you it will be clearly isn’t living. The world will try mold you to be one way, but you are clay. Remold and remodel, change and rearrange. There is nothing and nobody that you cannot be.

What are you waiting for?

Go out there and fail so you can succeed.
